Brandfox recently hosted a webinar with CEO & Founder, Court Abel, the Co-Founders at RetailReady, Sarah Hamer and Elle Smyth, and VP of Growth at Rabot, Nick Fender. They discussed a variety of topics ranging from implementation challenges to the next big tech innovation to take over the logistics industry. Check out a recap of their discussion here ⤵️
There are new technology solutions popping up left and right in the logistics industry. But is it actually important to stay on top of the trends, or can 3PLs just stick to what they’re good at?
Elle emphasizes the importance of adapting to the changing landscape, stating that “Consumer expectations have only been growing. The baseline fundamentals in a warehouse, the picking, packing, and shipping are no longer enough to stay competitive.” New technologies and integrations between the various softwares are the difference between an overachieving 3PL that is a “one stop shop” for clients, and a 3PL that leaves clients wanting more.
What about all of the employees and team members that are part of the logistics industry? This is a common concern, as the advancement of technology raises fears about automation replacing human roles. But don’t worry, emerging technologies aren’t trying to replace humans. Many technology solutions are used to empower humans to complete their tasks more efficiently and with less errors. Not to mention - these solutions can often minimize redundant tasks that take up valuable time out of your day. When used correctly, these tools can enhance human capabilities and allow employees to focus on more complex and strategic aspects of their roles.
Both RetailReady and Rabot focus on change management and approachable processes to help with implementation. As software companies, they find it super valuable to build personal relationships and let their clients know that they are here to help.
They emphasized that a struggle comes when their client hasn’t fully bought into the implementation of the technology. The partnership will not be successful if both parties aren’t working together to get the job done. This means site visits, weekly calls, and constructive feedback for both parties involved.
